I had the privilege today of hosting our highly respected and esteemed elders from across Kaduna State during an interactive meeting at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.
The aim of the meeting was to initiate a very important process of mutual familiarization between the Kaduna State Government and esteemed and revered elders of Kaduna State. In my brief remarks at the meeting, I stated that our administration aims to champion the public good and unity among all our people.
We believe that the best societies across the globe are products of consensus and togetherness. This tells us that consensus and togetherness, amidst plurality of identities, must be the foundation of any efforts towards societal growth and development.
I reiterated the fact that in tackling our security challenges, we intend to encourage a collaborative approach that will be focused and decisive. Criminals will not be accorded refuge and comfort in their religious or ethnic identities
. They shall be exposed as outlaws, and never shielded or allowed to claim justification. I therefore invited our esteemed elders to partner with us in the interest of our communities, and for the peace, stability and progress of our dear state.
Contributions at the meeting were robust, incisive and insightful. Key suggestions and resolutions centered on how to strengthen and sustain collaboration between the State Government and elders to enhance the welfare and security of the citizens.
Our elders committed themselves to a pact with the State Government to continually offer advice on policy, safety and security issues.
We thank our elders for honoring us with their distinguished presence. Our State owes them a debt of gratitude for their selfless services. We shall continue to tap from their invaluable experiences. May Almighty God continue to keep, protect and strengthen them.
