Achieving effective tracking of constituency projects requires the collective responsibly of Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
This informs why a non-governmental organization, Connected Development which is championing the tracking of constituency projects in Kaduna State paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for more collaboration to achieve the desired result.
The visit is aimed at deepening relationship between the organization and the ministry for the promotion of transparency and accountability of constituency projects implementation.
Speaking, the State Lead, Connected Development, Abubakar Mohammad who led the team said the visit is to familiarize with the ministry in order to ensure the people at the grassroot get quality facilities needed for the development of communities and the state at large.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Habiba Shekarau assured the organization of the Ministry's support as the projects are located across the Local Government Areas.
Habiba Shekarau said that most of the people at the grassroots are not aware that there are funds provided for these projects.
“Once they see that there is a projects, the only idea they have on their mind it is either honorable this or Distinguish this that sponsoring this projects.
Your presence in the communities and the series of engagements you hold, at least some people are getting sensitized,” she said.
Some Community Development Tracker and community Development Champions speak on the importance of tracking the projects.
At the end of the visit, the organization promised to expand its collaboration with more relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
