/The National Industrial Court sitting in kaduna has fixed 26/7/2023 for hearing on the case between deposed chief of Piriga chiefdom in Lere Local Government of Kaduna State, Jonathan Paraguwa Zamuna and the kaduna state government and three others.
The president judge, justice S. O. Adeniyi said the adjournment is to allow counsel to the defendant time to file counter affidavit if any.
In the suits, the deposed chief, Jonathan Zamuna is challenging the kaduna state government, the state ministry for local government and the Lere local government council for removing him from the throne as chief, without just cause.
Zamuna is also seeking an order to restrain the government from his purported deposement or taking further action on the mater pending the determination of the caseby the court.
Chief Zamuna is also praying the industrial court to order Kaduna state government to pay him damages amounting to twenty million Naira for the trauma the purported deposement which he alleged infringed on his fundamental human rights and carried out without following due process and fair hearing.
Lead Counsel to the Claimant, Barrister Napoleon ldenala who briefed journalists after the Court sitting Said to the adjournment is in order to allow the defendant file counter motion if any which is still within the time frame
On his part, the Counsel to Kaduna State Government, Barrister Tukur Yahaya who speak off camera dismissed the alleged attempt by the government for having commenced a process of appointing another Chief for the tool of Piriga Chiefdom describing it as mere rumor and speculation.
It would be recalled that the immediate past Governor of kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai announced the dethroning of Chief Jonathan Zamuna as Chief of Piriga on 22nd May, 2023.
