Kaduna State Government has received a boost in its fight against insecurity with the deployment of two hundred officers from the Police Special Intervention Squad. The move comes in response to escalating security challenges plaguing various parts of the state.
In a ceremonial reception held at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, State Governor Senator Uba Sani welcomed the arrival of the highly motivated officers, along with two armored Personnel Carrier vehicles. Governor Sani commended the Inspector General of Police for swiftly translating promises into tangible action.
The deployment follows a commitment made by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, during a recent visit to Kaduna State. Egbetokun had pledged to reinforce security efforts by sending the Special Intervention Squad to complement existing security agents.
Expressing optimism about the impact of the Special Intervention Squad, Governor Uba Sani stated his belief that their presence would significantly contribute to improving the security situation in the state. The governor's remarks reflect the collective hope pinned on the newly arrived officers to restore peace and stability.
Acknowledging the crucial support of various stakeholders in addressing insecurity, Governor Uba Sani extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Security Adviser Nalam Nuhu Ribado, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, and other security agencies for their unwavering assistance.
The deployment of the IGP Special Intervention Squad comes on the heels of a recent breakthrough in security operations. Just hours before their arrival, it was announced that one hundred and thirty-seven students who were kidnapped sixteen days ago from Kuriga Primary and Junior Secondary School in Chikun Local Government area had been successfully rescued.
