National population commission and the Kaduna State Government, have solicited the support of media establishments to sensitize and educate residents of the state on the 2023 Population and Housing Census.
The state director of the population Hajiya Adama Uthman stated this at the opening of a one-day sensitization workshop for the 2023 Census Media and Publicity Sub-committee held in Kaduna.
The State Government in collaboration with the National Population Commission had in March inaugurated Media and Publicity, and Security sub-committees for a smooth exercise.
"To ensure successful conduct of the exercise scheduled for May residents must be sensitized, educated, and enlightened on the processes to keep them prepared", she said.
Hajiya Adama said that residents need to know the key information that would be required from them to ensure data quality and credibility.
In her speech, the Public Affairs officer of the commission Mrs. Sarah Emmanuel Nok stated that population needed the establishment of media committee to inform the people on how census will be conducted and the kind of information they will be required to provide.
Mrs. Serah has urged people to come out and support the programme in order to quality Data for the purpose of development, planning for the country.
Mrs. Nok also appealed to people to cooperate with the enumerators, supervisors and other functionaries that sent to their localities, be patient with their questionnaires.
“I assure you that Nigeria will about to conduct one of the first digital census, it going to be a successful but it cannot achieve success without cooperation from respondent,” She said.
Representatives of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) his Counterpart of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said they will enlightened their people on the importance of census in order to get accurate results.
They also prayed for the success of the 2023 census scheduled to take place May.
